theme and creative writing. (Essentials of the "Cut the Deck" writing

is designed to meet the individual needs of the student. Emphasis is
placed on broadening students’ reading background. Literature studies

It will enable the student to improve his or her reading and
comprehension skills. Students will work on developing written
communication for a variety of purposes, strengthening basic grammar and
increasing vocabulary knowledge. |

and oral communication skills are emphasized. (Essentials of the "Stack
the Deck" writing program are covered along with creative writing). |

skills, provides background and literature study from the Colonial
period of America to the present with units being correlated with
American history studies. Additionally, continued studies of grammar and
grammar usage and a review of several types of expository writing styles
studied in English I and II are stressed. The research process is
studied with a research paper being written. Improvement in spelling,
vocabulary, and oral communication skills are stressed. |

punctuation, and vocabulary are stressed. Critical thinking and
listening skills continue to be emphasized. Oral communication skills
are stressed with presentations being given to a variety of audiences. |
