Vision Activity Day
At ISVI's gymnasium, visitors learned about Goalball (a rather new and upcoming sport for blind and visually impaired participants) and Adaptive P.E. techniques. At the same time, other guests had an opportunity to attend presentations by ISVI staff covering such topics as assistive technology available at ISVI, summer camps to be held at the school, residential life for ISVI students, and the latest activities in ISVI's work study program.

On Friday, April 20, ISVI hosted a special event called
"Vision Activity Day" bringing approximately 100 guests to the ISVI campus.
Guests included vision teachers, Adaptive PE teachers, visually impaired
students ages K-12, parents and a group of college students whose field of study
is Vision. The guests were from 14 counties in east-central Illinois from the
Central Affiliation for Special Education (CASE) program.
Guests also enjoyed a tour of the ISVI campus as part
of an orientation and mobility lesson. The special day ended with a delicious
lunch prepared and served in ISVI’s dining hall. Guests shared many complements
with ISVI staff about the day's events and acknowledged their appreciation–many
saying ISVI should make this an annual event!
