October's Tips For Parents On the first floor of unit 1 in rooms 111, 112, and 113 are the offices of the Department of Student Services. Two social workers and one psychologist provide a wide variety of services to all ISVI students and their families. These include counseling both individual and in groups, participation in IEP and eligibility reviews, membership on the new student intake team, social/developmental histories, development of behavior plans, and consultation with teachers and staff as well as other outside agencies as well as provide assistance with guiadianship. Other resources that can be made available for students and parents by contacting someone in the student services department include group testing such as the ACT, therapy from a clinical psychologist that consults with ISVI, and an appointment with our Child and Adolescent psychiatrist that visits ISVI one day each month. Services from the Clinical Psychologist and Psychiatrist are provided at no charge to the families. Please note, ISVI is a school designed to educate children with vision problems. Even though we offer a residential component for most of our students, ISVI is not a treatment facility for students that have severe behavior and/or mental health issues and may not be the most appropriate educational placement to meet their needs.
