1)  Spell Checking in MS Word Using Window-Eyes &
     JAWS
2)  Changing the Default Folder for Saving Files-Word
      2007
3)  Adding/using the Quick Access Toolbar

Both Window-Eyes and Jaws for Windows have streamlined the manner in which documents are spell checked in Microsoft Word.

The ability to use the spelling and error features of your screen reader are dependent upon the spelling and grammar error settings of Word. To insure these are configured properly, follow these steps:
* Open the Office Button (ALT-F)
* Activate the Word Options button (I)
* DOWN ARROW to “Proofing”
* Press TAB once to access the options on the right side of the display
* Navigate through the options and insure the following two checkboxes are checked:
* Check spelling as you type
* Mark Grammar errors as you type
* Activate the OK button with SPACEBAR to save the changes

Rather than using the spell checking dialog of Word, the screen readers offer a fool-proof manner in which to check the document.

Jaws for Windows
The Navigation Quick Keys of Jaws for Windows allow quick navigation among elements of a Word document. While they are useful throughout Word, I will address their use to spell check a document.

Toggle the Jaws Navigation Quick Keys with INSERT-Z. Once the Quick Keys are enabled, press M and SHIFT-M to navigate among spelling errors in a Word document.

Focus will be placed on the next or previous spelling error. You can repair the error yourself or allow The Microsoft Word application menu to assist you in repairing the error.

To use the application menu, press the WINDOWS APPLICATION KEY (the key to the left of the right CTRL). A list of suggested replacements will be displayed. Navigate the list with UP AND DOWN ARROW. Press ENTER on a selection to replace the misspelled word with the replacement.

After spell checking the document, disable the Navigation Quick Keys with INSERT-Z.

Window-Eyes
The Page Navigation dialog of Window-Eyes provides spell checking within Window-Eyes. Open the Page Navigation dialog with INSERT-TAB.

Press SHIFT-TAB once to access the list of radio buttons. Select “spell checking” and press SPACEBAR to activate the option.

The list view a the top of the dialog will display the misspelled words within the document. Press ENTER on a word to place focus on the misspelling.

You can repair the error yourself or allow The Microsoft Word application menu to assist you in repairing the error.

To use the application menu, press the WINDOWS APPLICATION KEY (the key to the left of your right CTRL key). A list of suggested replacements will be displayed. Navigate the list with UP AND DOWN ARROW. Press ENTER on a selection to replace the misspelled word with the replacement.

Open the Page Navigation Dialog again to display the remaining spelling errors. Repeat these steps until all errors are repaired.

You can also navigate among spelling errors with Window-Eyes keyboard commands.
* Move to the next spelling error ALT-APOSTROPHE
* Move to the previous spelling error ALT-SEMICOLON

Changing the Default Folder for Saving Files
in Word 2007

1.  Press alt plus the letter f.
2.  Press the letter i.
3.   Arrow down to "advanced."
4.  Press shift plus tab eight times to land on "file locations button."  You could tab but it takes a very long time to reach the same button.
5.  Press the spacebar.
6.  Tab once to "modify" and press the spacebar.
7.  Press alt plus i for "look in."
8.  Locate the drive or folder where you wish to save files.
9.  Tab to okay and press enter.
10.  Check to see if your choice stuck by shift tabbing to the "file location button" and you should hear, "file locations dialog and the name of your chosen location.

If you are using ZoomText, you can see that the file locations box now has your chosen drive location.

Adding Items To The Quick Access Bar
The access bar allows you to press a number to make an action take place.  For example:  Pressing alt followed by the letter one opens up the "save as dialog" box.

Pressing alt followed by two accesses the "undo" option.

Pressing alt followed by three accesses the "redo" option.

Here is how you can add something to the quick access bar.

1.  Press alt plus f.
2.  Tab to the "office button" and press the spacebar.
3.  Arrow down to "customize."
4.  Tab once to the "quick action toolbar customization options."
5.    Arrow down to  "commands not in the ribbon."
6.  Tab once and press  the first letter of the command you wish to add.
7.  Tab to "add" and press the spacebar.
8.  Tab to okay and press the spacebar.
9.  Tab to close and press enter.

Now if you press alt followed by the number four and you used the command of "open", this dialog box will open.
