On Line With ISVI

By Reggie Clinton - Superintendent ISVI
September 8, 2009

I wanted to share with you an exciting opportunity that ISVI has through the efforts of Mr. Jim Strader, one of our Orientation & Mobility instructors.  I am copying below an informational note from Mr. Strader, with his permission, for you to read.  If you have ideas or suggestions please contact Mr. Strader via e-mail here at ISVI and share them with him. His e-mail address is james.strader@illinois.gov .  This is an opportunity for us to help make the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum more accessible for all who visit there.

Informational note from Mr. Strader reprinted with his permission:

ISVI students and staff have been asked to help one of our State's finest museums.

Ms. Randi Wiseman, Education Director at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, has asked our help in making exhibits at the museum more informative for those with little or no vision.

Ms. Wiseman and her staff wish to prepare an audio program, to be carried by the visitor that provides key information about things that are primarily visual; yet without being too detailed and confusing.

If you have attended the museum and can recall things that were unclear to you, or someone you were with, because of the visual nature of the exhibit, please let me know.  I will share these in a visit with Ms. Wiseman.  In the next visit I hope to include two or three ISVI students who can go through the museum giving first hand advice.

People from all over the world come to this museum; this is an honor for us.  Your input will help form what the museum does for years to come.

Thank you for your input!
