Superintendent ISVI
This edition is being written to inform interested parties about the impact of the State of Illinois budget on ISVI. Within the past week ISVI has laid off two classroom Educator Aides which will be effective November 30, 2008. This was due to a reduction in the personnel budget line. We have also been informed that we will be incurring a 3% budget reduction in all other budget lines. These budget cuts will impact our programs and how we implement services here at ISVI. Further reductions may be coming and if so it will create greater negative impacts to our programs and services. Final specifics have not been revealed. I would encourage anyone reading this to write letters, or make personal contacts, to those who make decisions at the legislative level in the State of Illinois. Explain to them the importance of the programs and services provided at ISVI. Without the financial support we currently receive ISVI will lose programs and have no choice but to restructure the way we deliver services to students from across the state. Your support is crucial at this time and anything you can do to help get the word out about ISVI is greatly appreciated. In a time where all other public schools are being given financial state aide increases to support and expand their educational programs it is important for our public officials to recognize that ISVI provides educational services to our students here. Rather than incurring budget reductions we should be viewed as any other school district in Illinois and have our educational programs shielded from these cuts. Your support is crucial and anything you do on behalf of helping the programs here at ISVI continue for the benefit of our students is greatly appreciated. |
