On Line With ISVI By Reggie Clinton - Superintendent ISVI It is hard to believe that we are in the last two weeks of school. But the weather has turned warmer, the calendar at school is full and students are ready for summer break to get here! It is amazing how fast the spring semester always seems to go by. With student extra-curricular activities dominating the schedule it seems to go too quickly. Two weeks ago we hosted the NCASB swim and forensics conference meet. We had ten state schools represented and close to 180 people involved with the activities. We utilized facilities at ISVI, the Eisenhower Pool in Springfield and the facilities at Illinois College. Students and staff represented their respective schools in a positive manner. But the best part of all of the activities is watching each individual student put forth their best effort in the events they signed up for. There was no shortage of courage and hard work when it came to our students! It was a successful event and one we were honored to host here in Illinois. With the close of the school year fast approaching, please be sure to visit our web site calendar for a list of upcoming activities. Graduation is the biggest student event to be held on Thursday, May 22, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the school auditorium. Before graduation there will be many other activities the students will be involved in. As soon as the students complete graduation ceremonies and leave for the summer, we will be hosting the Alumni Reunion Weekend beginning at 5:00 p.m. that day. Our campus will be host to many previous students as they return to conduct business, share past experiences and renew old friendships. I know at my reunions there is never a shortage of stories and it is interesting how the stories get better as the years march on! This summer our campus will also be alive with summer camps, teacher curriculum and committee work, maintenance projects and we will be hosting an activity or two for other organizations. There are no dog days of summer at ISVI as it is always just as busy as the regular school year. Thank you to everyone for your support and efforts in making this another successful year for our students here at ISVI! |
