Today begins our new fiscal budget year and as noted in the press, the State of Illinois does not have a budget in place. I have had several phone calls regarding this, but unfortunately I don’t have any other information beyond that which is available to the public. Not being on the inside of this process it is unknown when a budget will be in place and what that may mean for ISVI. What I can share with you at this time is that we are open and continue with “business as usual.” July 1 has come and our doors are not shut. Information that has been shared with the public is that Governor Quinn has indicated he would not close our school at this time. Long term I can’t say what this means either. If a budget deal is not reached then it could mean severe cuts, closure or nothing. There are a multitude of possibilities and scenarios that could happen. At this point in time all anyone can do is speculate what might happen. I remain optimistic and hopeful that ISVI will continue to provide quality educational services to students from across the state for many years to come. I also realize that Illinois faces some very tough decisions to get our state back on track to a healthy financial future. My hope is that whatever steps are taken, and whatever the outcome is, that it won’t diminish the educational opportunities for our students at ISVI and students in schools across Illinois. If I receive any further information I can share regarding the school I will do so. Thank you for your support and all you do on behalf of our students at ISVI! |
