On Line With ISVI

By Reggie Clinton - Superintendent ISVI

My first week at ISVI has been very fast paced. Being able to meet with the staff and students has been the highlight for me. My previous experience as an administrator at ISVI has been helpful during this transition and Interim Superintendent Joan Forney has also been a great help in bringing me up to speed with current activities and programs at ISVI.

For me the first things that stood out and caught my attention were the physical changes to the students who were here when I was five years ago. Some of those cute "little" kids were now eye level with me or taller than I am. There are also many new student faces for me and I have had the pleasure to meet each of them. Nothing brings home the fact that time changes things then to witness the physical and character changes as students mature.

One thing that is still the same is the nature of the student body here. We are blessed to have a great bunch of students. They are polite and well mannered. Of course all teenagers have their moments, but in general the overall student body at ISVI is a neat group of individuals. I look forward to attending their activities and watching them compete in extra-curricular activities, classroom activities and their interaction as they reside on our campus.

The other thing that has stood out to me is the staff commitment to doing what they can to provide quality educational and residential experiences for the students. Any organization is only as good as the people who work there, and we have a good group at ISVI. Like the students, we adults have our good days and bad days, but overall I see staff members here having good days with kids.

One other group I’d like to comment on are the parents. I have had contacts from several parents and they have all been positive about ISVI and me joining the team here. Just like an organization is only as good as those who work there, a good student is the product of home and school working together. Supportive and positive parents are a blessing for any school to work with. ISVI is fortunate to have good parents who care about their children and who want the best opportunities for them.

I am looking forward to my tenure at ISVI as superintendent. It is a school with a rich history and one that I am proud to be associated with. I take great pride in watching our students grow and being able to share in their success.
