On
Line With ISVI
By Reggie Clinton - Superintendent ISVI
February 19, 2009
ISVI was recently notified that approval has been
given, and funds appropriated, to proceed with converting the current coal fired
steam heat boiler system to a gas fired system. This project has been discussed,
planned and reviewed several times over the past 10 years. This is primarily due
to our current coal fired system being out of compliance with EPA standards. The
cost to update and repair the current coal system is astronomical compared with
making the conversion to a gas system.
Plans shared with ISVI administration to date indicate a completion date before
the next heating season begins (October 2009). But these plans are tentative and
a final outline of project component completion dates are not available to us at
this time.
During my last tenure here as superintendent this conversion was discussed,
planned and eventually shelved. It had also been planned and discussed prior to
my arrival here then. Thus, it has been an on-going consideration to implement
this change. As more details emerge, and the project begins to move forward, I
will update you. At this time it does appear that this project is going to begin
to move forward soon.
