Interim Superintendent at ISVI

Please join the students and staff of ISVI as we welcome Mrs. Joan Forney, who will be serving at ISVI as Interim Superintendent. Mrs. Forney retired in July of this year after serving for 12 years as superintendent at the Illinois School for the Deaf.
Qualifications
Mrs. Forney received her Bachelor of Science in Special Education: Deaf and Hard
of Hearing from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois. She earned her
Illinois Master of Arts: Educational Administration from Sangamon State
University at Macomb, and earned her Illinois Specialist Degree (Ed.S.):
Educational Administration from Western Illinois University at Macomb in 1995.
Certification
Illinois Elementary K-9 Teaching, Illinois Special K-14 Teaching and
Supervisory, Early Intervention Supervisor, Early Intervention Specialist
Professional, Illinois General Administrative K-12, Illinois Superintendent's
Certificate.
Mrs. Forney currently serves on the Advisory Committee-Gallaudet University Pre-College programs and is a board member of the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf, a member of the Illinois Administrators of Special Education as well as the Illinois Association of School Administrators and also a board member of the Conference of American Instructors of the Deaf.
Previously Mrs. Forney has served on the Midwest Superintendents of Schools for the Deaf, on the Advisory Committee, National Deaf Academy, Advisory Committee on Virtual Reality-Orlando, Florida, the Illinois Council on Education of the Deaf, Council for Exceptional Children, Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf, and Supervisors of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs in Illinois--past Secretary and current President, Illinois Women Administrators, Illinois School for the Deaf Parent Organization, Illinois Teachers of Hard of Hearing/Deaf Individuals, and Illinois School for the Deaf Advisory Council.
ISVI is very fortunate to have Mrs. Forney's knowledge and expertise as she has over 30 years of experience in the field of special education.
