Dates to Remember

Aug. 17 - Registration Day

Evening In Paris
This year's Prom theme was 'Evening In Paris' and was held in the Dining Hall. All the high school students were dressed up in their gowns and tuxedos and looked fabulous. The Grand March started at 5:30 p.m. Family, friends, and staff took pictures while the students entered. They were seated at the beautifully decorated tables and dinner was served at 6:00 p.m. Dinner consisted of rib-eye steak, cheesy potato casserole, and corn. A delicious cake was served for desert. Music played in the background while everyone enjoyed their dinner. Prom pictures were taken after dinner. The dance started after all pictures were taken with music provided by Dan Thompson. During the dance, the students voted for Prom King and Queen and Prince and Princess. At the end of the evening there was a balloon drop that all the students enjoyed greatly. Everyone danced and had a wonderful time.

After-Prom Party
After prom 36 students also attended the After Prom Party in the Teen Center. Delicious pizza and snack foods were provided. Prizes were awarded every 15 minutes. Prizes included a clock radio, CDs, DVDs, headphones, portable DVD players, cameras and a gift card from TGI Friday’s. Students enjoyed playing video games, listening to music and sharing their prizes. Talk of prom and camaraderie of good friends was enjoyed by everyone. Joe Lewey, Recreation Worker, and residential staff coordinated and supervised the activity.

Fifteen students participated in the graduation ceremony at ISVI on May 22, 2008. Several of the students received their high school diplomas while still others received a certificate of completion. Three students who received a certificate of completion opted not to participate in the ceremony. Mrs. Joan Forney spoke to the graduates encouraging them to develop a plan of success for their future. Superintendent Reggie Clinton and Principal Jan McGovern presented the diplomas. Mrs. Forney was recognized as the 2008 recipient of the ISVI Visionary award for her tireless efforts while serving as the Interim Superintendent at ISVI for fourteen months.
