ISVI Celebrates Another Birthday!
Students and staff gathered in the cafeteria to wish ISVI a happy 158th birthday. One of our students led the very-full cafeteria in singing “Happy Birthday to ISVI”. The graduating seniors all gathered around the cake and the punch fountain to blow out the candles. Everybody who attended enjoyed the wonderful lunch and the celebration. Happy Birthday, Illinois School for the Visually Impaired!

K-Kids at ISVI
The ISVI and the K-Kids Club have been busy helping other children and families! In October, the K-Kids Club collected donations to support Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. This year, ISVI staff, students and families helped the Club donate a total of $83.00 for the Swazi Children Care Project, a lifesaving program that funds hundreds of safe havens where community volunteers are trained to provide health services, nutritious meals and care to Swaziland’s youngest and most vulnerable children. In December, the K-Kids Club hosted their Third Annual K-Kids Canned Food Drive on campus. Approximately 200 items were collected and donated to the Jacksonville Area Community Food Center just before the holiday break. The ISVI K-Kids Club looks forward to helping out again next year!

A Few Words from Your Superintendent......
Hello Parents and Guardians,
This semester has gotten off to a great start at ISVI. All of the staff have worked hard to make it another successful one. The 2nd quarter has ended with students grades being disbursed soon. I am looking forward to my tenure at ISVI as superintendent. It is a school with a rich history and one that I am proud to be associated with. I take great pride in watching your students grow and being able to share in their success. Please come and visit the campus and your child whenever you would like. We would enjoy your visit. Thank you so much for giving ISVI the opportunity to educate your child.

Respectfully,

Reggie Clinton
ISVI Superintendent

Recreation News
On January 8th, an Air Hockey Tournament was held in the Snack Bar. Eight ISVI students decided to participate. All of the participants received prizes. Also, there was a New Years Social on January 11th. It was held in the Snack Bar. There were about 25 students who attended. Dietary provided the wonderful cookies and punch for the Social. The music for the party was provided by two ISVI high school students. There were a lot of dancing and games that were enjoyed by all!

Ice Storm
In mid-December, there was a terrible ice storm that came through Jacksonville. Many streets were closed and many Jacksonville residents were without electricity. Fortunately, ISVI’s generator took over to keep all students safe and warm. The dedicated staff made their way to work through alternate routes to ensure students were receiving the care and education that they deserve. Activities were held in the dorms for the students. The dining hall staff served food in the dorms, as well. Everybody at ISVI pulled together during this time. The campus is now all cleaned up from the many fallen branches and debris. Great Job to all!
