ISVI Students on the cutting edge…..
On March 12th Mr. Thompson’s Technology Classes had the opportunity to learn
about the latest and greatest technology products for the visually impaired.
Representatives from GW Micro Inc. came to ISVI to demonstrate their new
products called Book Sense, Braille Sense Plus, Duo Handheld CCTV, and a
portable wireless Braille display.
Book Sense is a digital audio book reader. It is similar to the Victor Reader
but has other enhancements. It is bluetooth capable and recognizes more file
formats than other available book readers. Students saw the third device ever
made and they were the third group to see it demonstrated. It is expected to be
released for market in May 2009.
Braille Sense Plus is an exciting new version of the Braille Sense. ISVI
students had the opportunity to use the device and were very interested in the
new technology. They were also shown the Qwerty Braille Sense. There is only one
of these available and it has not been released for market.
It is very exciting for ISVI students to be among the first groups to try this
new technology. ISVI is on the cutting edge!

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
ISVI students are having the opportunity to taste a variety of fresh fruits and
vegetables.
Dietary staff have been busy planning this project and soon a local chef that
creates fruit and vegetable art will be coming to the dining hall to demonstrate
some of his artwork.

St. Pat’s Day Party
There was a lot of green and a lot of celebrating on March 17th at ISVI.
The classes of Ms. Hauck and Ms. Walker celebrated St. Pat's Day with a
scavenger hunt for the leprechaun's gold. They made leprechaun hats, made up
limericks, listened to Celtic music, and matched the lucky shamrocks for gold.
The classes enjoyed corned beef sandwiches, Irish potato chips, shamrock cookies
and green lemonade.

Babe.....I got you Babe.....I got you Babe....
It was another outstanding Talent Show at ISVI. One of the many acts was a
performance by a student and his mother. Dressed as Sonny and Cher they wowed
the crowd with their performance of “I Got You Babe.”
